The Tigers made the long trip North to Glasgow uncertain whether the games would be played because of an awful weather forecast for the area. Surprisingly the forecasters were wrong and no rain and humid conditions were the norm for the afternoon of AAA baseball action.

The Tiger squad is nursing some injuries combined with player unavailability and holidays made the trip with only 9 players which forced the Manager Ray Brownlie to get into the line-up in both games.

The Tigers managed to sweep GBA but only after an extra inning extravaganza in Game 2. Here are some links for the games reports for Game 1 and Game 2.

The race for the division title just became more of a battle with four clubs each staking a claim to win it all. Liverpool dropped two games against the solid Manchester A’s and The Menwith Patriots easily won their games against Halton Jaguars. From this point onwards complacency will not help any of the four clubs and they will all need to find ways to win if they want to play in the National Baseball Championships in September.

On Deck June 13th Tiger Field – Halton Jaguars

This weekend saw a split at Tiger field between the top two in the league. Players again braved a cold day and wished summer would hurry up and get here. Game reports are up, please use the following links for Game 1 and Game 2.

The Tigers and the rest of the league are off next weekend as this is a scheduled rain date but some Tiger players will be competing with the Northern Knights in Austria. The Tigers next 2 games are on the road in Manchester May 30th and Glasgow June 6th. The team returns home to Tiger Field June 13th when the play host to the Halton Jaguars.

May 2^nd sure felt like February 2^nd at Tiger Field Sunday afternoon as the first meeting of North Yorkshire Derby between the Menwith Hill Patriots and the home town Tigers.

Under dreary skies and a biting wind both teams put on their games faces and played the double header in brutal conditions. The Tigers came out on top sweeping the Patriots, 10 - 7 and 11 - 1. Game reports are available for Game 1 and Game 2.

The two wins now have the Tigers at 5 wins and 1 loss which keep the team on track and should have the guys focused for next weekend as the Tigers play host to the Manchester A’s. Please note that this fixture was initially scheduled as away but because Allen Field has been double booked the fixture on the 15^th August will now be played in Manchester.

This past weekend saw the Tigers drop their first game of the season, not something they are use to. Complacency was strife in the small squad but take nothing away from the Jaguars, they capitalized on the weaknesses and mistakes made. Game reports and pictures are available for Game1 and Game2.

We would like everyone to welcome new faces Scott (House) Spurlock and Graham Crothers to the team, Graham made his debut against the Jaguars in left field and Scott played at first base and pitched. Most of you will already know Scott from his appearances with the Northern Knights and Edinburgh over the past few years. Two great guys who will make a good impact on the team.

Next weekend the Tigers host the Menwith Hill Patriots at Tiger Field which will showcase two of the top three teams sporting a 3 - 1 record. Glasgow (0 - 4) plays host to the Liverpool Trojans (3 - 1) and Manchester (2 - 2) travel to Halton (1 - 3).

The reigning National AAA Champions Harrogate tigers opened their 2010 campaign by sweeping Glasgow in double header action in the North Yorkshire town of Harrogate. Under pleasant conditions the Tigers clawed their way through both games with some timely hitting, good base running and over all a team effort to win both games against the Glaswegians who made the long trip south with 10 players. Next weekend sees the Tigers on the road as they travel to Halton to face the Jaguars (0-2) and will be back at Tiger Field (Harrogate High School) May 2, 2010 when we will host the Menwith Hill Patriots.

The 2010 season kicks off this year with the Tigers playing at home in a double header against the Glasgow Stars. First pitch will be at noon. Lets hope the Tigers can take off where they left it in September 2009 when they won the AAA National Championship.

Please note that we will be using the facilities at the Menwith Hill Station on the 7th February from noon to 3pm. Please be at the gate no later than 11.45am as each person needs to be signed in and remember to bring photo id.

The first session will take place on February 7th @ 1pm at Harrogate High School. Further sessions will be held on the 14th, 21st and 28th of February and March. With the intention of having two teams this year we hope that the turnout will be positive, if we feel we do not have the squad size to support two teams then it simply won't happen.

Those player who are on the mailing list should of had an email from Ray with all the details of the sessions and the registration for attached.

This past weekend saw the Tigers cruise through the AAA National Championship beating Southampton Mustangs and Essex Arrows along the way. The Tigers played two games on the Saturday beating the Mustangs 11 - 4 in the morning and then beating an unbeaten Essex side 15 - 3 in the afternoon. This saw the Tigers qualify for the finals, they then sat back and watched the rest fight it out for the second spot in the final which ended up being the Mustangs. The Tigers once again brushed them aside in 7 innings 13 - 3 to become the national champions.

It was a fine finish to an already successful first season for the Tigers and will take some beating next season after dropping only 1 game all season which was to Menwith Hill.

The Tigers would like to thank everyone who came down and supported the team and the event at the weekend and would hope to think they enjoyed themselves and may come down and support the Tigers again in the future! 

What a season!

With The weather looking favorable, the Tigers headed to Merseyside to face the second place Liverpool Trojans in what would decide the Northern Conference Champions for 2009. These were two good contests between two competitive sides each hoping to represent the North at the Finals hosted by the Tigers in Harrogate on Sept 5/6.

Ray Brownlie, Tigers Manager had this to say about his team after clinching the Northern Conference: “I cannot be happier for all the players because they all contributed during the season and I know I can rely on the squad to be ready to do whatever it takes to get the job done. For a team that does not practice together during the week due to distance, it was amazing to see so many players come together as a team to play baseball every Sunday and improve week in week out as they played. It is our first year together but what a ride it has been to win the league in our first year. My guy’s should be proud of what they have done achieved so far this season.”
